Review Swiss Payment Forum 2023

The payment cosmos in two days

The 12th Swiss Payment Forum took place in Zurich on November 13 and 14: More than 200 participants enjoyed over 20 informative, high-calibre and entertaining presentations over the two days.

Moderated by Sandro Graf, the payment cosmos spread out before us over two days. The speakers shared their expertise on instant payments, the latest developments and areas of application for crypto payments, the challenges facing the legislative landscape against the backdrop of payment innovations, embedded finance, CBDCs and stablecoins, sustainable finance and other developments. In the Innovation Panel, moderated by Marc Landis, three start-ups presented their innovative solutions to us. In the keynote speech, Bilal Zafar gave us an insight into what will be possible with AI in the future and how we can use this as an opportunity. The speakers at the Swiss Payment Forum agreed that AI will become a game changer in the near future and has the potential to revolutionise the payment industry.

"The only constant in the universe is change." Inspired by this quote from Heraclitus, Christian Ridder chose the universe as the basic motif for this year's graphic recording (you can download or order the picture as poster here). And so the instant payment rocket, digital currencies as a comet, embedded banking as a UFO that is always and everywhere available, come together to form a picture in which many aspects of the 12th Swiss Payment Forum can be discovered.

One thing is certain: a multitude of innovations and changes await us - we just have to be ready for them. "Why not?" instead of "Yes, but..."!

The next Swiss Payment Forum is taking place in Zurich on November 18 and 19, 2024.
